Adrian "Ace" Custis joins the Trojan men’s basketball team for the 2013-2014 season. A 1997 Virginia Tech Science in Marketing graduate, Custis retired from playing professional basketball overseas in April 2012 after playing for the Panasonic Trains (Japan Basketball League) 2006-2012. He also played for the OSG Phoenix (Japan Basketball League) 2003-2006; numerous countries in the middle east and Asia (Japan, Philippines, Qatar, Lebanon, Syria, Indonesia); the ABA (Tampa Bay Thunderdawgs 00-01) and the USBL on several occasions; the CBA (Grand Rapid Hoops 99-00); and the NBA (Dallas Mavericks 97-98). Custis is recognized as one of the most popular athletes in Virginia Tech history. He is the third player in Virginia Tech Men's Basketball history to surpass the 1,000 mark in both points and rebounds. Custis was inducted to the Virginia Tech Hall of Fame in 2007 while his jersey #20 retired in 1997.
An Eastville, VA native, Custis is married to the former Denedra Evans and have two children, Adrian II born May 12, 2005 and Evan born March 30, 2010. They also have a son named Charles Mapp born August 16, 1994.
