Trojans Fall to Lee, 17-9, in Conference Play

ETTRICK, Va. – The Virginia State University women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-9 decision to Lee on Saturday afternoon.

Lee set the tone early, jumping out to a 3-1 lead in the opening quarter behind a quick offensive surge. The Trojans battled to stay within striking distance in the second period, but the Flames extended their advantage to 7-3 heading into halftime.

Virginia State showed resilience coming out of the break, matching Lee with four goals in the third quarter. Junior Kayla Carroll-Williams led the charge during that stretch, scoring twice to help cut into the deficit. Despite the offensive push, Lee maintained control with timely responses and carried an 11-7 lead into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, the Flames pulled away, outscoring the Trojans 6-2 to seal the 17-9 victory.

Carroll-Williams paced Virginia State with three goals and one assist, while Carea Tuck and Nakiyah Jones each added two goals. Sophia Toye and Unique Anthony also found the back of the net for the Trojans.

Defensively, goalkeeper Savannah Weisman recorded 12 saves, keeping Virginia State competitive throughout the contest.
