Virginia State defeats Ferrum 15-4

Ferrum, Va. (Feb. 25, 2026)- The Virginia State University women's lacrosse team delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Ferrum College 15-4 at W.B. Adams Stadium.

With the win, Virginia State improves to 1-1 on the season.

After conceding the game's first goal, the Trojans quickly settled in. Nakiyah Jones evened the score at 1-1 off an assist from Kayla Carroll-Williams before Carea Tuck capitalized on a free-position opportunity to give VSU a 2-1 edge. The teams traded goals late in the opening quarter, and VSU carried a 3-2 lead into the second.

Ferrum briefly tied the contest at 3-3 early in the second quarter, but that would be as close as the Panthers would get. Aniyah White responded with a go-ahead goal, and Tuck added a man-up score to put the Trojans ahead 5-3 at halftime.

Virginia State took full control in the third quarter, outscoring Ferrum 5-0 in the period. Jones sparked the surge with back-to-back goals, while Bryelle Small added two late scores to extend the advantage to 10-3 heading into the final frame.

The Trojans continued their momentum in the fourth, netting five more goals. White, Jones, Milan Poole, and Carroll-Williams all found the back of the cage as VSU closed out the 15-4 victory.

Jones led the offensive effort with four goals and one assist, while Tuck recorded a hat trick and two assists. Carroll-Williams also tallied three goals, and White finished with two goals and an assist. Small contributed two goals in the win.

Defensively, VSU was strong throughout the afternoon, holding Ferrum to just four goals on 19 shots. Goalkeeper Ilyana Jones earned the win in cage, recording 10 saves. The Trojans controlled possession with a 13-11 edge in draw controls and forced 16 Ferrum turnovers.
