Bowie State Takes Control in Two Games Against Virginia State
Bowie, MD- In a dominant display, Bowie State won both games of their doubleheader against Virginia State, securing a 7-3 victory in Game 1 and a commanding 10-1 win in Game 2.

Game 1: VSU 3, BSU 7
Virginia State struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. However, Bowie Stateresponded quickly, scoring two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning. After adding another run in the third, the Bulldogs exploded for 4 runs in the fourth, including a two-run homer from C. Dunham, to push their lead to 7-1.
Virginia State tried to mount a comeback in the fifth, scoring two runs, but they struggled to capitalize on opportunities, leaving multiple runners stranded. Despite their efforts, Bowie State's defense and pitching held strong, maintaining their 4-run lead. The Trojans face a tough challenge in the final inning to make up the deficit.
Game 2: VSU 1, BSU 10
In Game 2, Bowie State took complete control, leading Virginia State 10-1 after five innings. Virginia State initially took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Hailey Darri scored on a passed ball, but Bowie State quickly responded. After a run in the first, the Bulldogs exploded for six runs in the third, aided by key hits and multiple defensive miscues by the Trojans, including wild pitches and passed balls.
Virginia State struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving runners stranded in multiple innings. Meanwhile, Bowie State added another run in the fourth, solidifying their 9-run lead. With only two innings remaining, Virginia State faced an uphill battle to mount a comeback, while Bowie State appeared poised for a dominant finish.
The Virginia State Trojans will look to bounce back when they face Lincoln University (PA) in their next game on March 29, 2025, with matchups scheduled at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
