Ettrick, Va. (Feb. 26, 2025)- The Virginia State University Men's Lacrosse team played a very even game with Greensboro College but dropped the game 15-10.
Andre Bigham only needed 37 seconds to score, assisted by John Goebel. A minute later GC would answer with a goal of their own. Miles Jackson and Kalani Laughlin both added goals to get the Trojans rolling to a 3-1 advantage. However, the Pride would add two goals in less than a minute to tie the game at the end of the quarter.
John Goebel would net the first goal in the second stanza in a man-up opportunity. Greensboro would then start to win more face-offs to spark a seven-goal run from the 10:19 mark in the second quarter to the 13:00 minute mark in the third quarter to lead 10-4. After a timeout Donovan Elmore, Laughlin and John Goebel all scored in a three-minute period to cut the deficit to three, 10-7. In the final minute of the third period, GC added two more goals to kill Virginia States momentum. Bigham and Elmore opened the scoring in the fourth quarter, but those were quickly answered by the Pride. Bigham added one more goal before GC added their final goal in the final three minutes.
VSU drops to 2-3 overall and will stay home to play Holy Family on Saturday March 1 at 1 PM.
