Richmond, VA- The Trojans of Virginia State University went against Virginia Union in an across-town matchup on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 4 pm.Â
Virginia Union burst onto the court with infectious energy as Jonathan King opened the scoring with a dazzling fast-break layup, putting his team ahead 2-0. However, Virginia State quickly responded;
Clint Wright Jr. sank a three-pointer, nudging his team into the lead at 6-3. The tension on the court was palpable as both teams exchanged baskets in a fierce battle for dominance.Â
Just when Virginia Union seemed to find their rhythm, Travis Vaughn joined the fray with a clutch three-pointer, stretching their advantage to 9-5. Yet, Virginia State's
Jacob Cooper wasn't about to let his opponents pull away; he sliced the deficit with a well-executed layup, bringing the score to 9-7. The game became a rollercoaster ride of turnovers and near misses, reflecting the fierce determination of both squads.Â
As the first half progressed, Virginia State surged ahead, with
