Ettrick, Va. (Feb. 1, 2025)-To begin the second season of VSU lacrosse team started season two with a 14-6 win over first year program Emory & Henry. 

To start the first quarter the Trojans scored five unanswered goals, two from Donovan Elmore, two from Andre Bigham and one from Kalani Laughlin. The wasp would score an unassisted goal just before the end of the quarter and another two minutes into the second period making it 5-2. 

Laughlin and Miles Jackson would add two more goals before halftime, but the Wasp would also add two goals to make the halftime score 7-4. Virginia State would then score four straight goals in the third quarter from Devray Kirkland II, Jackson, John Goebel and Elijah Bryant putting the score at 11-4. Emory and Henry would score the first two goals in the fourth stanza before the Trojans closed out the quarter with back-to-back goals from Laughlin and Jesse Goebel adding one two minutes before the final horn making it 14-6. 

Jayden Reid finished 11-23 in the face-off with seven ground balls. Jace Wiggins recorded the win in goal and finished with 10 saves. VSU will play again on Wednesday February 12 at Mount Olive at 4 pm.
