Late Surge from Bulldogs Hands Virginia State Tough Loss
Your Virginia State Women's basketball team (15-4) takes on Bowie State (13-6). VSU wins the tip immediately followed by a turnover. The Bulldogs strike first hitting a 3-pointer. VSU's first timeout is forced when they give up the ball for the second time in a row. Virginia State comes out of the timeout pressing on defense leading to a contested shot which gives them the ball back. Another empty possession by the Lady Trojans leads to another 3-pointer by Bosie State making it a 6-0 game. VSU's first basket comes with 4:58 left in the first quarter

The Second quarter continues to be choppy. The Trojans managed to pull ahead by four thanks to some made free throws. A hustle play by
Skylar White to save the ball from going out of bounds results in an easy layup for
Amesha Miller, swelling VSU's lead to seven points. The Bulldogs won't go away. The score at halftime is Virginia State 30, and Bowie State 24.

Virginia State comes out slow to start the 3
rd quarter and the Bulldogs respond tying the game at 30 apiece. An and-1 by
Amesha Miller ends the scoring drought for VSU and puts them up by three points. A timely steal by Miller and a fast break layup by
Anii Harris bring the Trojan's lead to five. Every time it looks like the Trojans are about to pull away the Bulldogs keep roaring back; they take a one-point lead with a little more than two minutes left to play in the 3
rd quarter.
Anii Harris has a chance to put the Trojans up at the line, she sinks both of her free throws and VSU regains the lead. The quarter ends with Virginia State holding a six-point lead.

It is another slow start offensively, in the final quarter of play for VSU.
Skylar White drains a three to put the Trojans up by seven points. Two back-to-back three-point bombs cut Virginia State's lead to just one point. Another VSU turnover leads to BSU's Mia Smith draining a 3-pointer putting the Bulldogs up by two points with just over five minutes left to play in regulation. BSU gets a timely block with less than a minute to play, and VSU is forced to foul another timely rebound off a missed free throw putting the game away for the Bulldogs. Final score BSUÂ 69, VSU 61.
