Elizabeth City, NC—The Virginia State Women's Basketball team traveled to Elizabeth City, North Carolina, to play the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University. The nail-biting game was close, but the Trojans prevailed for the victory 72-69.
The game began with both teams exchanging points and keeping the score close. Virginia State's Amesha Miller and Elizabeth City State's Vanessa Schwarzmann were standout players, making significant contributions to their teams' scores. ECSU made a notable impact with a fast-break three-pointer, narrowing the gap in Virginia State's lead. To start the fourth period Alexis Blake and Harris both hit a foul shot which was tied by a Lady Vikings layup two minutes into the stanza. However, a 10-point swing for VSU over the next four minutes grew their lead to 65-55. While ECSU would continue to fight back clutch foul shots by Sydney Roberts and Harris maintained the Trojans lead.
The game concluded with Virginia State narrowly defeating Elizabeth City State 72-69. This match was a display of athleticism, strategy, and determination, making it a memorable experience for all who attended.
