Trojans drop road contest against Wildcats
Virginia State University (VSU) women's soccer team faced off against the Randolph College Wildcats on their home turf, falling 2-1 in their exhibition.
In a competitive first half, both teams aimed to get on the scoreboard. Despite four shots from VSU, none found the back of the net. Conversely, the Wildcats capitalized on their opportunities, with Holly Birmingham and Sterlyn Woodward scoring to give Randolph a 2-0 lead by halftime.
The Trojans came out with renewed energy in the second half. Loryn Srurgis managed to break through Randolph's defense and score for VSU, reducing the deficit to 2-1. Despite their efforts, VSU was unable to add another goal. Randolph's defense and goalkeeper Rachel Fields held strong, ensuring the Wildcats preserved their lead.
