Ettrick, Va. (March 4, 2024)- The Virginia State University women's lacrosse team battled Southern Wesleyan University to a 13-11 victory. Â
SWU started the first quarter scoring 3 of the first four goals for an early 3-1 advantage. However, five different Trojans scored six straight goals to help give VSU an 8-3 lead halfway through the second quarter. Adrien Wise would score two goals during the run. After the first half was over VSU held a five-goal lead, 9-4.Â
Coming out of the break it only took two seconds for Wise to score a goal, the first of four for the Trojans in the third quarter. However, the Battlers would score seven of the last nine goals however VSU would hold on for a 13-11 lead. Â
Sarai Reyes-Roman would score five goals and Wise contributed four. Callie Thompson earned her first collegiate win as a goalie as she had five ground balls and seven saves.Â
The team will welcome Edinboro University of Pennsylvania on Thursday March 7 at 1 pm at Rogers Stadium.Â
