Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

VSU downed by Bulldogs

Wilson, N.C. (March 20,2024)- The Virginia State women's lacrosse team travelled to Barton College and dropped a tough 20-4 decision.

The bulldogs only needed two minutes to get on the board as they scored a fast break goal and would score on yet another fast break after causing a turnover and picking up the ground ball to make it 2-0 at the 10:14 mark. Barton would then score after a bulldog player missed a shot wide which drew the VSU goalkeeper out of the net and with the Bulldogs getting the ball saw an empty net for an easy goal.

In the opening 15 minutes the Bulldogs found themselves with an 8-0 lead. The bulldogs ballooned their lead to 10 with 8:19 left till halftime. Kayla Caroll- Williams and Jhalin Hooks answered after picking up the draw control to get the Trojans on the board, making it 10-2 in a minute. However, Barton would score two goals to retake a 10-goal advantage just before halftime.

The Trojans would add another courtesy of Skye Whiting, but the bulldogs still held a 15-3 lead with the running clock going the full third quarter. Then just before the third quarter buzzer Adrien Wise added another goal to make it 15-4. Barton would outscore the Trojans 5-0 in the final stanza to win

With the loss Virginia State drops to 4-4 overall while Barton improves to 4-6. The team will return home on Saturday March 23 at 3 pm against Davis and Elkins.
