Ettrick, Va. (Feb. 17, 2024)- The Virginia State Univesity women's lacrosse team won their first inaugural game 17-7 over UDC in a matchup between two HBCU's for the first time.
Sarai Reyes-Roman and Adrien Wise both scored five goals each for the Trojans. After UDC scored the first goal VSU rattled off six straight goals. The fire birds then scored two before VSU scored another three straight. The Trojans would go into halftime up 10-5. UDC would score two of the first three goals in the third quarter, but VSU would rattle off the last six shots that saw the back of the net.
In total seven different players scored and Maya Cajchun earned the win after starting the first quarter and gathering two saves. Wise led the team with five groundballs. Next for the team will be a game against Chowan on Saturday at 1 pm.
