Elizabeth City, N.C. (Feb. 17, 2024)- The Virginia State University women's basketball team (20-4, 11-4) reached the 20-win mark for the first time in six years with a 63-59 win over Elizabeth City State University (16-10, 8-7).

After ending the first quarter up 10-9 the Trojans started the second quarter scoring six of the first nine points. Neither team could grab the momentum until VSU ended the quarter on a 6-0 run to head into halftime with a 29-23 advantage. Four minutes into the second half a Tiyanna James layup gave VSU their largest lead to that point at seven points, 40-33. However, ECSU would end the third stanza with a four-point lead at 48-44. The Vikings would get the biggest lead of the game at nine points, 55-46 with 7:37 left in the final quarter.
