Trojans Unable to Contend with Bulldogs Firepower
 

Petersburg, VA – The Virginia State University Men's Soccer team faced off against the Barton College Bulldogs on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, suffering a 0-4 defeat. With this loss, the Trojans' record now stands at 1-5-1, while the Bulldogs improve to 5-1-0.

The first half saw Barton establish control early in the match, with Lopes converting a penalty kick at the 10:09 mark. He extended the lead with another goal at 24:57, demonstrating Barton's offensive prowess. Gio Vences further added to the scoreline at 32:02, assisted by Zeno Rodatz and Lopes, concluding the first half with a commanding 3-0 lead.

The second half featured a series of substitutions, but Barton maintained their momentum. The Bulldogs netted another goal early in the half, pushing the score to 4-0. Despite several efforts from the Trojans, including potential scoring opportunities from VSU  Matt Brown's goal kicks, they were unable to find the back of the net.

The game concluded with Barton firmly in control, showcasing their strength throughout the match. The Trojans will look to regroup and improve in their upcoming fixtures.
