Ettrick, VA (1/24/2024)-The Virginia State men's basketball team squared off against Bluefield State where they led wire to wire in a point blowout win.

The Trojans began the game with a strong drive to the basket by Rylan Bowens resulting in a foul. He knocked down both free throws at the line. The trojans start the game firing on offense and defense going on a 10-0 run forcing Bluefield State's first timeout. Bluefield came out in heavy press coverage that defense forced some turnovers and sent them on their own 6-0 run. Making the score 12-8 with 12:46 left in the first half. Another Virginia State 5-0 run makes it a 17-8 game with 10:06 left in the first. Bluefield's aggressive defense put them in foul trouble early the trojans were in the bonus with over 9 minutes left in the half.
Chris Hampton ignited the crowd with a monstrous block and the Trojans kept rolling going on yet another 5-0 run they took a 15-point lead with seven minutes to play before halftime. Bluefield's Redus beats the buzzer for two and Virginia State goes into halftime with a 36-22 lead.

Tyrek Williams ballons the lead to 20 for the Trojans, making it a 46-26 game.
Izeah Parker throws down a slam to swell the lead to 27. A three pointer by
Jonathan Norfleet makes it a 31-point game with eight minutes left in the game. VSU empties their bench with just over five minutes left in regulation. The Trojans will cruise to a win with contributions from just about everyone on the team.
Tyrek Williams led the Trojans in scoring with 12 and Imhotep George led in rebounding with eight. The Virginia State men's basketball team will play Lincoln University at 4pm on Saturday January 27
th.
