Trojans Matthew Foster and Willie Drew Named to the 2023 Black College Football Player of the Year Award Watch List

Atlanta, GA – The Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCFHOF) announced today the 2023 Watch List for the Black College Football Player of the Year Award and VSU offensive lineman Matthew Foster and defensive back Willie Drew are on the BCHOF radar.

Both student-athletes were named to the  All-CIAA preseason team, Drew was also named to the Shrine Bowl East West 1,000 list. While these accolades leave alot to be celebrated, both young men have stayed humble and laser focused on preparing for the season ahead.

They're the kind of players that always redirect the attention back to their team, coaching staff, and support system.

"First off I want to thank God for letting all this come to fruition, without him I wouldn't be in this position," said Foster. "It's an honor being looked at for this award and I thank my teammates for pushing and supporting me. Seeing all your hard work pay off is a blessing."

Although Foster and Drew play on different sides of the ball, they are in sync with what they expect to accomplish on the field this season and they both share hopes of playing at the next level.

"I am truly humbled by this recognition and grateful for the opportunity to represent my university, team, and family," said Drew. "It's important for me to thank those individuals for pushing me to be the best version of myself."
