ETTRICK, VA- The Virginia State University Trojans announce the 2023 women's soccer schedule, marking the program's inaugural year under the leadership of head coach Anthony Andrews.
The 2023 slate features six home games for the VSU's fans to come check the new program out.
Coach Andrews has crafted a schedule that is competitive and balanced. The main focus was to develop a schedule that will allow the student-athletes to showcase their talent at a high level while building the program.
The Trojans open their season on the road at Belmont Abbey College on September 2.
VSU will face Sweet Briar College on September 6 and Chowan University on September 9 for a pair of road matches before their highly anticipated home debut.
On September 11 the Trojans will host Howard University at Rogers Stadium at 5 p.m. for the first official women's soccer match on the campus of Virginia State University. "I've been anticipating playing for Virginia State University's first Women's soccer team since the day I heard about it," said sophomore Zoe Babb. "I have been playing soccer for over 13 years, so I am very grateful to continue competing in the sport that I love so much. I am also honored to be a part of an inaugural team. Not only am I a part of a team with talented players, but I get to represent an institution that has given me so much"
The home opener is the first game in a series of three consecutive home games for the Trojans. On September 16 the Trojans host Shaw University and on September 17 the Trojans spring right back into action against Eastern Mennonite University.
VSU will travel north to Lincoln University of PA on September 20 to battle the Lions, before invading the Carolinas with stops in Greensboro, NC to play Guilford College on September 26 and Allen University in Colombia, SC on September 30.

The Trojans will take the field for their final home showing of the season on October 22 against Allen University.
The inaugural season finale will be played on the road at Shaw University in Raleigh, NC on October 30.
"My expectations for this season are to introduce a system that will help generate winning opportunities now and, in the future, provide academic resources to student-athletes so they can succeed in the classroom, and cultivate an environment that generates positive feedback from current players, and staff"
