VSU Golf Selected to Participate in 2023 PGA Works Championship

ETTRICK, VA- The VSU Men's golf team has been selected to compete in the 2023 PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship in Birmingham, AL May 8-10.
 
The event will take place at Shoal Creek Club and Bent Brook Golf Course. 
 
"I am excited that we qualified for the 2023 PGA Works Collegiate Championship because last year it was the best tournament I had ever played in," said sophomore Juan Ruiz Patino. "The courses are beautiful and challenging, and you get to play with great players. We get to make connections on and off the course at this event. Overall, we anticipate having a great time because it is truly a unique experience." 

At VSU the athletic department prides itself on promoting and prioritizing opportunities to not only advance our student-athletes in their respective sports but to also simultaneously provide them with lasting experiences throughout their collegiate journey.
 
PGA Works will field 30 teams and a 52-player individual division for this year's Championship.

"We are very pleased to have earned the right to compete in this year's PGA Works Collegiate Championship," said head coach Justin Parker. "VSU Golf is excited to represent Trojan Nation on a national level while competing in the single most culturally diverse collegiate golf tournament. I have heard such great things about the Shoal Creek and Bent Brook golf courses, so we are really looking forward to having the opportunity to play them." 

The Trojans are currently gearing up for the 59th annual CIAA Men's Golf Championships in Jacksonville, NC on April 16-18, 2023.
