How It Happened:Â Up and down pitching ailed the Trojans in the first inning as the Builders were able to score two runs with the help of three walks. Despite the rough start on the mound,
Coron Wallace had a pair of strikeouts in the opening inning as the Trojans trailed the Builders 2-0.

VSU answered back aggressively off a double from
Dawsyn Hock to tie the game 2-2, sending
Tahraun Hammond and
Liam Simpson home.

The Trojans managed to clear the Builders off the field quickly in the top of the second inning securing outs at center field and right field.Â

A complete team effort paired with some good hits positioned VSU to take a 4-2 advantage in the bottom of the second inning sparked by singles from
Jody Morris and
Avante Banks. Morris was earned a run off Bank's single on the ground to centerfield, while a fly ball off the bat of Hammond led to a run from
David Johnson.

A scoreless third inning for both teams kept the Builders optimistic, while both teams seemingly struggled to gather themselves.Â

The Builders took advantage of a series of walks in the top of the fourth inning before scoring two runs to tie the contest at 4-all.

The Trojans started the fourth inning with a pair of outs, but a huge triple up the right from Banks gave VSU a much-needed boost. Johnson followed up with a single to right field to finish the deal, sending Banks home as VSU reclaimed the lead and the ball game.Â

The Builders set the tone for part two of the doubleheader after securing three runs in the opening inning, highlighted by a pair of doubles to right and center field.Â

VSU responded with a double from Henderson to score two runs from Hammond and Hock.Â

At the end of the first inning, the Trojans trailed the Builders by a run.

Despite the even start, the Trojans were ailed by a bad hitting night as the Builders built onto their early success scoring three runs in the fourth, four runs in the fifth, and three runs in the sixth inning to make the game out of reach for VSU.Â

VSU had three errors and experienced struggles at the mound that were hard to overcome.Â

The Trojans will be back in action on Monday, April 17 at Mid-Atlantic Christian University in Elizabeth City, NC.Â
