ETTRICK, VA- The Trojans split the day, winning game two 10-3 over Virginia Peninsula Community College.

How It Happened: VPCC secured a pair of runs in the opening inning to take an early lead after a pair of Gators made it home off a triple to right field. Â

Ricky Jones scored a run for VSU off a sacrifice fly to center field putting the Trojans on the scoreboard at the bottom of the first inning.Â
Â
The Gators maintained a 2-1 edge into the sixth inning, as both teams struggled to get around the bases.Â
Â
However, three singles at the top of the seventh inning resulted in the final run of the game, giving the Gators the 3-1 win.Â
Â
Christian Henderson took the loss on the mound.Â

How It Happened:Â VSU came out looking like a completely different team in game two of the doubleheader.Â

The Trojans jumped out in front of the Gators 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning after a bunt from Jones led to runs from
David Johnson followed by
Tahraun Hammond.Â
Â
An error positioned Jones on third base as steady hitting paid off for the Trojans sending Jones home despite a groundout.Â
Â
Jody Morris kept the momentum rolling for the Trojans, stealing home in the bottom of the second. The Trojans were able to get away with stealing five bases during the second inning. The risks paid off as Banks was also able to steal home and Johnson scored his second run of the contest after stealing second and third.Â
Â
VSU took a 6-0 lead into the third inning, but three quick outs sent the game into the fourth.Â
Â
The Gators earned two runs off a double in the top of the fifth inning, followed by a single to cut the Trojans lead in half 6-3.Â

VSU responded back with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the game away with scores from
Bryce Wilmoth,
Liam Simpson,
Christian Henderson, and
Norman Jackson.Â

Joseph Hastings pitched 4.1 innings for the Trojans allowing five hits, three runs, and striking out three. Jackson Aldrewvonte pitched a single inning for VSU also striking out three.Â

The Trojans will be back in action tomorrow, April 16 hosting a doubleheader against the Builders of the Newport News Apprentice School that was postponed after Friday's inclement weather led to the game being called. The games are set for 1 PM and 3 PM starts.
