BOWIE, MD- The Virginia State University Women's Tennis team took down Bowie State 5-1 on the road Wednesday afternoon.

The Trojans improved to a 9-2 overall record, 8-1 in the CIAA.Â

VSU dominated the Bulldogs in doubles play, only giving up a single point after three matches to clinch the doubles point. VSU won 6-0 on Court 1, 6-0 on Court 2, and 6-1 on Court 3.

The first singles position was won by Bowie State's Afruica Gentle (6-2, 6-1) over
Ashleigh Charles.

Makensie Pago clinched No. 2 (6-2, 6-0) and
Ginger Johnson won at the No.3 position (6-3, 6-1).Â

The No. 4 position had no result, while Jayce Gather (6-0, 6-1) and
Anijah Burgo (6-0, 6-0) closed out the match with wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.Â

The Trojans will be back in action on Thursday, April 13 at Elizabeth City State University. The match is set for a 3 PM start.
