BOWIE, MD- The Virginia State University Women's Tennis team won their third match in a row, defeating the ECSU Vikings on the road in Elizabeth City, NC on Thursday afternoon.
 
The Trojans improved to a 10-2 overall record, 9-1 in the CIAA. 
 
VSU got the best of the Vikings in doubles play, holding the Vikings to a single point in the first two matchups. VSU won the third doubles match by forfeit to clinch the doubles point.
 
VSU won 6-1 on Court 1 and 6-0 on Court 2.
 
The first singles position was a close one but 
Ashleigh Charles was able to clinch the win (6-4, 7-5).
 
Makensie Pago clinched the No. 2 position (6-2, 6-0) and 
Jayce Gaither won at the No.3 position (6-2, 6-0). 
 
Alexcie Burrows took the No.4 position (6-0, 6-2), while 
Alexis Seymore swept the competition at the No.5 spot (6-0, 6-0).
 
VSU won the No.6 position by forfeit. 
The Trojans will be back in action on Friday, April 14 at University of the District of Columbia. The match is set for a 2 PM start.
