VSU heads to Barton before conference play

Ettrick, Va. (Dec. 5, 2023)- The Virginia State University women's basketball team hits the road for a game against Barton College. In VSU last game they won 76-63 over Southern Wesleyan University. 

As a team the Trojans average 77.8 points per game while only allowing 66.6 points per game. The team shoots 46.4% from the field and 32.5% from the three-point line. Five players average double figures with Amesha Miller leading with 15.2 points per game. Cabria Lewis, Mihjae Hayes, Tiyanna James and Mekayla Furman all average 11 points or more. Miller ranks 18th in the nation with 2.2 blocks per game. VSU enters the game with a 6-0 record. 

Barton enters the game averaging 59.7 points per game and gives up 83.7 points per game. The team shoots 35.6% from the field and averages 22 field goals per game. The Bulldog have four players average double figures with Lauren Walker having a team high 13.1 points per game. Nyla Powell averages 10 points and seven rebounds per game. Barton enters this game looking for their first win as they currently sit at 0-7.
