Ettrick, Va. (Nov. 28, 2023)- The Virginia State University women's basketball team hits the road for a game at Southern Wesleyan University.
VSU is coming off an 88-86 win over Seton Hill on Sunday November 26. The Trojans feature a high-powered offense that averages 78.3 points per game and shoots 45.3 % from the field and 35.4 % from three-point land. Mihjae Hayes, Tiyanna James and Amesha Miller all score 13.3 points per game and Cabria Lewis at 12.8 is not far behind. Mekayla Furman is the last Trojan to average double digit points with 10.3 per game. Miller also pulls down 9.5 rebounds per game and 2.5 blocks per game, both rank in the top-50 in the nation.
Southern Wesleyan comes in after a 105-71 loss to Anderson University. The Warriors score 64.3 points per game while shooting 38 percent from the field. SWU is prone to turning the ball over as they cough it up 19 times a game which places them 206 in all of division 2. VSU is tied for 16th with forcing 24.25 turnovers per game. Three different Warrior's average nine points with Shelby Glance averaging a team best 9.5 points.
VSU looks to stay unbeaten as they enter the contest 5-0 and SWU looks to inch closer to the .500 mark as they stand at 2-4.
