Women’s soccer ends inaugural season

Raleigh, N.C. (October 30, 2023)- The Virginia State University women's soccer team ended their inaugural season 2-11-2 after a 4-0 loss to Shaw University (12-4-1).

VSU first shot was by Tatyanna Carroll at the 30th minute that missed just left of the post as the first two shots for the lady bears were saved and missed just right.  However, the next shot of the game for Shaw would find the net as just ten minutes before halftime the momentum shifted.

Coming out of halftime Morgan Parris had a tremendous opportunity as she had an amazing shot just six seconds in that was saved by the extended hand of the Shaw goalkeeper. However, for the next 30 minutes it was completely under the Lady Bears control as they were able to add two goals in the 59th and 76th minute. Shaw would add one more goal in the 84th minute and that would put a cap on the season.

Parris and Alana Martin were tied for the team lead in goal with seven and four different players added an assist.
