Salem, Va. (Oct. 26, 2023)- The Virginia State University men's cross-country team competed at the CIAA Championships and finished in fifth place.
Jalen Brownlee was the first Trojan to cross the finish line with a time of 27:57.7 and right behind Brownlee was Emmanuel Williams with a time of 28:03.7 which put two VSU members in the top-10 at eight and nine.
Gabriel Miles finished in 14th place with a time of 29:00.3. In 36th and 37th place was Elijah Epps (31:58.4) and Jeremiah Monts (32:02.6). Cherno Jalloh was the last Virginia State runner to cross with a time of 34:24.5 which was good for 54th place.
VSU finished with 104 points in fifth place, eight points ahead of the Trojans was Livingstone (96) in fourth, Shaw (89) in third, Virginia Union (85) in second and in first place with 56 points was Fayetteville State.
