ETTRICK, VA – The Virginia State Women's Cross-Country team finished in first place Friday afternoon after playing host to the VSU Fall Cross Country Opener Women's 5k at Rogers stadium.
The VSU women's Cross-Country team earned 15 points, which placed them in first ahead of Virginia Union and Washington Adventist.
Manuelene Deigh was the first Trojan to finish the race as she set a personal record crossing the finish line in 21:26.6 with a 6:54.1 mile split, which placed her first of 15 competitors.
A place away came
Alandina Hyppolite finishing in a time of 21:50.5 with a 7:01.8 split which placed her second.
Miracle Price finished her first race as a Trojan in 22:13.6, with a 7:09.2 mile split which gave her a third place finish.
Ruby Williams finished in fourth place after posting a time of 22:15.4, with a 7:09.8 mile split.
Shashauna Valentine set a personal record after finishing her race in 22:29.5 with a 7:14.3 mile split which placed her fifth.
Sania Peterson concluded her race in 24:15.1 with a 7:59.9 mile split which placed her sixth.
Jordan Burzynski rounded out the race for the Trojans finishing in seventh
place posting a time of 26:58.1 with a 8.40.7 mile split.
The Trojans Men's and Women's Cross-Country teams will be back in action September 16 as they get ready to play host to the Virginia Union University Cross Country Opener at 4:00 p.m.
