ETTRICK, VA - The Virginia State University (VSU) Men's Cross Country team prepares to pay hosts to the annual VSU Fall Cross Country Opener. The men will begin running their 8k following the women's race at approximately 5:15 p.m.

In last year's meet,
Jalen Brownlee put the conference on notice as he placed third behind a time of 31:53.1 in his first collegiate cross country race while
Elijah Johnson posted a time of 32:04.3 which placed him fourth in his first collegiate cross country race.

Last time out, The VSU Men's Cross-Country team earned 314 points, which placed them in 12
th place which was just one point behind St. Mary's (313). FreshmanÂ
JaPrince Gaines was the first Trojan to finish in his first collegiate competition. He crossed the finish line in 21.22.1 with a 5:43.9 mile split, which placed him in 77th place of 107 competitors.Â
Next came Jalen Brownlee finishing in 87
th place after posting a time of 22.26.1 with a 6:01.0 split.
Elijah Johnson finished his race right behind Brownlee posting a time of 22:30.0, with a 6:02.2 mile split which gave him a 88
th place finish.Â
