MECHAINICSVILLE, VA – The Virginia State Men's Cross-Country team finished in 12
th place Saturday morning at the Spider Alumni Open Women's 6k in Pole Green Park.
The VSU men's Cross-Country team earned 314 points, which placed them in 12
th place which was just one point behind St. Mary's (313). Freshman
JaPrince Gaines was the first Trojan to finish in his first competition with VSU. He crossed the finish line in 21.22.1 with a 5:43.9 mile split, which placed him in 77th place of 107 competitors.
Next came Jalen Brownlee finishing in 87
th place after posting a time of 22.26.1 with a 6:01.0 split.
Elijah Johnson finished his race right behind Brownlee posting a time of 22:30.0, with a 6:02.2 mile split which gave him a 88
th place finish.
Gabriel Miles finished in 92
nd place after finishing in 23:06.5, with a 6:52.8 mile split.
Savion Spencer finished his race in 28:55.5 with a 7:45.5 mile split which gave her a 103
rd place finish.
Kavante Dawson concluded his first race as a Trojan in 33:22.6 with a 8:57.1 mile split which placed him 105
th.
The Trojans Men's and Women's Cross-Country teams will be back in action September 9 as they get ready to play host to the Virginia State University Fall Cross-Country Opener at 4:00 p.m.
