ETTRICK, VA (Sept. 2, 2019) - The Virginia State University (VSU) men's and women's cross country teams will be opening their 2022 season at the Spider Alumni Opener on Saturday, September 3. The meet will be hosted by the University of Richmond at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Virginia. The women will be running a 4k at 9:50am.

Senior Alandina Hyppolite, sophomore Emoni Coleman, freshman Miracle Price, and junior Shashauna Valentine will be the key runners to look out for this cross country season. Hyppolite will be coming back this season after helping lead the women's cross country team to a 3rd place finish at the 2021 CIAA Championships. Hyppolite is returning this season with a 20:59 in the 5k. This will be Coleman's, Price's, and Valentine's first cross country season here at VSU, but they are runners to look out for this season. Coleman is a transfer coming in with a time of 19:28 in the 5k, Price will be coming in with a PR of 19:39 in the 5k, and Valentine will be coming in with a PR of 21:08 in the 5k.
