Men's Cross Country Hosts Final Home Meet of the Season in the VSU Invitational

ETTRICK, VA - The Virginia State University (VSU) Men's Cross Country team prepares to host their second and final home match of the 2022 season in the annual Virginia State University Invitational. The meet will start and end in Rogers stadium in Ettrick, VA. The women will be running a 5k at 4:00 p.m. which will be promptly followed by the men running an 8k at approximately 5:15 p.m.


The teams that will be visiting are:
Bluefield State
Chowan
Regent
Richard Bland
Shaw
Virginia Union
Washington Adventist



The men are entering the meet after scoring 24 points overall, which allowed them to secure first place last Friday in the Virginia Union Opener. In the Virginia Union Opener, freshman stand-out, JaPrince Gaines, Jr. led the Trojans with his first place finish. Gaines posted a time of 27:46.40 with a 5:35.2 mile split which was a personal best for him.


Following behind him in second place was Jalen Brownlee, who finished with a time of 28:13.01 with a 5:40.5 mile split. Finishing in fourth place was Gabriel Miles, who crossed the finish line with a personal best of 28:58.00 with a mile time of 5:49.6.
