ETTRICK, VA. – The HBCU D2 Football Coaches Poll Powered by BOXTOROW released its Week Two Rankings on Tuesday and Virginia State moved into the number nine spot after a dominating victory against Bluefield State.
The ninth-place ranking comes after the Trojans overpowered Bluefield State 28-7 on the brand new field turf in Rogers stadium. Virginia Union moved up into the no. 1 spot after previously being ranked third. Virginia Union was able to pull off the upset against #2 Valdosta State 45-40. Bowie State dropped from the no. 1 spot down to the no. 3 spot after their loss to Saginaw Valley State 12-40. Fayetteville State moved down two spots from no. 3 to no. 5 after losing to Wingate 3-21.
The VSU Trojans will look to carry their momentum into conference play this weekend as they prepare to host St. Augustine's.
