ELIZABETH CITY, NC
- The New South Athletic Conference (NSAC) announces the field for its Inaugural 2022 New South Baseball Tournament Bracket. The double-elimination tournament featuring four NSAC teams, will begin on Tuesday, May 10 with quarterfinal action as Virginia State (5-4, NSAC) enters as the no. 2 seed will face Thomas Nelson (2-4, NSAC), who comes in as the no. 3 seed (Note: first pitch for this game is set for 4:00 p.m.). The advancing team will play the winner between no.1 seed The Newport News Apprentice School (6-2) and no. 4 Mid-Atlantic Christian (3-7) in the winners bracket while the loser will play the loser of the two in the losers bracket. The Tournament will be from Tuesday-Thursday May 10-12 hosted by Mid-Athletic Christian University at Knobbs Creek Park in Elizabeth City, NC.
The Trojan Baseball team ended their season runner ups for the NSAC regular season title after going 5-4 in the conference and 14-27 overall. VSU ended their season going 4-15 in the month of April but won two of their last four games. The Trojans have played with more confidence on the road this season, as they are 7-9 away from Whaley Colbert Field . Thomas Nelson is 20-29 overall but unfortunately ended their season being swept on the road at Caldwell.
First pitch on Wednesday is set for 2 p.m. while Thursday's action will begin with the Championship game at 2 p.m.
