Trojans End Regular Season with a Win

ETTRICK, VA  – The Trojans were able to avoid a season shutout against Salem after winning game three thanks to eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Unfortunately, the Trojans were only able to score one run in the doubleheader losing 6-1 in the first game and 7-0 in the second



Game 1
The Tigers were able to notch the first run f the game on a sacrifice fly ball into center field to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. In the bottom of the first inning, Ricky Jones hit a ball deep enough into right field to score Tahraun Hammond to knot the ball game one. After four scoreless innings, Salem came out in the top of the sixth inning and hit a double into right center field to score a pair of runs. The Tigers then scored another run on a bases loaded ground out to shortstop. They scored two more runs on a double into left center field to bring the score to 6-1. The Trojans were held scoreless through the final two innings to give Salem the win 6-1.

Game 2
The Tigers got started early in the second game with a double into left center field which scored a pair of runs to make the score 2-0. The Tigers added to their lead in the top of the first inning starting with a run coming across home plate on an error made by the third baseman. The Tigers accounted for two more runs on a single to right field which scored two runs to make the score 5-0 in the top of the fourth inning. Salem added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning on another error by the third baseman and a grounder to the shortstop to make the score 7-0. The Trojans were not allowed any runs in the bottom of the seventh inning which gave the Salem the win 7-0.

 Game 3
Much like games one and two, the Tigers got started early in the top of the first inning with a double into left center field which scored a pair of runs to make it 2-0. Unlike the first two games, the Trojans got started early as well as David Johnson scored the first run of the day for the Trojans on an RBI single of the bat of Ricky Jones. Carl "Chip" Granderson earned an RBI after driving Jones in on a single into left field. Dawsyn Hock scored the third run of the inning on a fielder's choice to take the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the first inning. The Trojans exploded in the bottom of the fourth inning starting with Tahraun Hammond drawing a bases loaded walk that scored Miles Burton. Ricky Jones followed up with a double into right center field that scored David Johnson and Avante Banks. Dawsyn Hock then doubled into right field to score Ricky Jones and Tahraun Hammond. Three more runs came in to score on errors made by the second baseman and right fielder which allowed Miles Burton, Chase Moore and Dawsyn Hock to make the score 11-2. Both teams were held scoreless through the remainder of the game, which gave the Trojans the win 11-2.
