Trojans Fall to Barton to Cap the Season Series

ETTRICK, VA  – The Trojans allowed the Bulldogs of Barton College to take the series sweep after beating the Trojans 15-3 on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs earned 15 runs on 18 hits with two errors while the Trojans scored three runs with seven hits with two errors.

How It Happened
In the top of the first inning, the Bulldogs showed they did not come to play games as they scored the game's first run on a walk with the bases loaded. BC would then clear the base paths with a triple to score three more runs. The Bulldogs would tack on another run on a sacrifice fly ball to make the score 5-0. Dawsyn Hock would fight back as he drove in Tahraun Hammond to give the Trojans their first run to make the score 5-1 in the bottom of the first inning. In the top of the second inning, the Bulldogs put a high drive deep into right center field for a solo homerun to make the score 6-1. The Trojans would go on to cut the Barton lead to just three runs after Chase Moore scored on a throwing error by the shortstop. Tahraun Hammond then singled into left field the next at-bat to score David Johnson to make it 6-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning. The top of the fifth inning saw the Bulldogs earn both of their runs back with a triple into left field and a single into center field on back-to-back at-bats to make the score 8-3. Barton would keep the pedal to the metal through the top of the sixth inning scoring a pair of runs to make the score 10-3. The Bulldogs added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to make it 12-3. In the top of the eighth inning, Barton scored on a batter being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded before scoring the last two runs on a single to left field to make the final score 15-3.
