Trojans Defeated by Mansfield in Four-Game Series

ETTRICK, VA  – The Trojans were swept by Mansfield in the four-game series after dropping the last two games of the four-game series against Mansfield. VSU dropped the first game 3-2 while giving up the second game 5-4

Game 1
The Mountaineers opened the game with a run in the early parts of the first inning as a single into left field brought in the first run of the game to make the score 1-0. In the bottom of the second inning, the Trojans were able to knot the game at one as Chase Moore scored on a throwing error by the pitcher. The two teams would keep one another from touching them all until the top of the fifth inning when MU brought a run in to score on a double. The next at-bat, another run scored on a ground ball to second base to make the score 3-1. After a promising start to the inning, Avante Banks scored Chase Moore on a sacrifice fly ball to center field to make the score 3-2. The Mountaineers were able to get themselves out a jam as the Trojans had the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning but failed to capitalize which allowed MU to steal the victory, 3-2.
