ETTRICK, VA – The Trojans were swept by Mansfield in the four-game series after dropping the last two games of the four-game series against Mansfield. VSU dropped the first game 3-2 while giving up the second game 5-4
Game 1
The Mountaineers opened the game with a run in the early parts of the first inning as a single into left field brought in the first run of the game to make the score 1-0. In the bottom of the second inning, the Trojans were able to knot the game at one as
Chase Moore scored on a throwing error by the pitcher. The two teams would keep one another from touching them all until the top of the fifth inning when MU brought a run in to score on a double. The next at-bat, another run scored on a ground ball to second base to make the score 3-1. After a promising start to the inning,
Avante Banks scored
Chase Moore on a sacrifice fly ball to center field to make the score 3-2. The Mountaineers were able to get themselves out a jam as the Trojans had the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning but failed to capitalize which allowed MU to steal the victory, 3-2.

David Johnson on a base hit to center field to give the Trojans the lead 4-3. In the top of the sixth inning, the Mountaineers tied the ball game at 4 with a ground ball to the shortstop. After a triple to start the top of the seventh inning, MU scored the go-ahead run on a fly ball to left field to make the score 5-4. After Mansfield kept VSU off the board, the Mountaineers earned the win to complete the four-game sweep.
