ETTRICK, VA – The Trojans showed out in front of their home crowd as they evened their record at 2-2 after defeating Bluefield State College in a doubleheader. VSU won the first matchup 3-2 and took the second game 6-2.
Game 1
The Big Blue got on the board early in the contest, as they were able to load the bases and drive in a run off a single into left field. Another run would come in on a ground out to the shortstop to make the score 2-0 in the top of the first inning. The Trojans cut the deficit down to just one after
Nia Hall singled to drive
Machenze Flood in to score to make it 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning. In the top of the fifth inning, the Trojans made a push for the lead as
Alani Horton singled into left field to score
Alaijah Pratt from second base.
Desmyn Owens doubled into right field on the next at-bat to score Pratt from first base to put the Trojans up 3-2. The Trojans would hold on to the slim lead to earn their first victory of the season, 3-2.

After
Hailey Darrington singled to start game two,
Alaijah Pratt scored Darrington on a sacrifice fly ball to left field to make the score 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
Samantha Cunningham broke the game open with a triple that cleared the base paths.
Julia Jones singled to score Cunningham to make the score 5-0 in the bottom of the third inning. The Big Blue would fight back in the top of the six inning as the visitors tripled to score two runs to make the score 6-2. The Trojans would hold Bluefield State scoreless in the top of the seventh inning to earn their second win of the day, 6-2.
