How It Happened
  • The start of the ball game was a back and forth affair much like the last two meetings between the two teams, until Dajour Rucker knocked down a three-pointer to put VSU up by five. Francis "BJ" Fitzgerald hit a jumper to put VSU up 14-7 with 14:29 left in the first half.

  • Jalen Seegars would single handedly keep the game close as he scored seven consecutive points for the Broncos. After a bucket, plus a free throw from Seegars, FSU was down by just four points. FSU would eventually find a rhythm offensively scoring 10 unanswered points as Farian Dixon spearheaded the scoring run with six points of his own. The Broncos led 26-23 with 5:46 left in the first half.

  • Jalen Seegars and Koraan Clemonts shots from downtown lead an 8-0 run for FSU to put them up by nine. Antwan Miles would fight back with an and-one but the Broncos would inevitably take a 38-29 lead into the locker room at half time.

  • The Broncos would pick up from where they left off early in the second half going on a 5-0 run to increase their lead to 15 points. Cress Worthy started to find the bottom of the net as he scored five points straight to make the score 52-37 with 13:36 left to go in the game.

  • Fayetteville State increased their lead to 17 points before Fitzgerald would score back-to-back buckets to knock on the door of making it a single digit game again. Cress and Seegars joined forces yet again to grow the lead to 65-47 with 4:45 left to go in the game.

  • VSU would end their season with a 7-0 run to make the final score 72-60.
