| Box Score 2 ORANGEBURG, SC (December 19, 2022)- The VSU women's basketball team are 5-6 on the season, 2-1 in the CIAA after taking down the Claflin University Lady Panthers on Monday night. The Trojans 69-64 victory is not only a conference win, but it snapped the Lady Panthers 5-game win streak.

First Half
The Trojans set the tone early with an opening shot from behind the arc by Kamryn Anthony. VSU battled to hold on to their lead as Claflin worked to close the scoring game. Despite the Lady Panthers tying the score 3 times throughout the half, the Trojans stayed consistent. Claflin thought they had a chance to take the lead with the game tied 37-all and second left in the half, but Kalyn Ervin altered their plans, securing a 3-pointer to enter the locker room 40-37, in favor of VSU at halftime.  

Second Half
Although Claflin moved ahead in the 3^rd quarter, VSU regained control in the 4^th with consecutive 3-pointers by Ervin to push the Trojans ahead. Several missed shots but Lady Panthers gave the Trojans to much needed edge to secure the 69-64 win over Claflin.

Leaders
Leading the Trojans in handing Claflin, currently the no. 1 offensive team in the CIAA, their first conference loss of the season was Kalyn Ervin with a season high 23 point in the matchup. She also collected 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Boogie Robinson was not to far behind in scoring with 17 points to accompany her 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Kamani Jones controlled the Trojans rebounds with 8 boards, while Sommer Blakemore stepped in with 7 assists.

VSU will play their final game of 2022 on Saturday, December 31! The contest will feature the VSU Trojans and the Barton College Bulldogs. Tip-off is set for 2:00pm at the VSU Multipurpose Center.
