VSU Trojans Set to Face FSU Lady Broncos on Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Virginia State University women's basketball team will continue CIAA conference play for game 3 of their 4-game road tour on Saturday, December 17 to face the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville University. Tip-off is set for 2:00pm.

Series History
The VSU Trojans are 10-6 against the FSU Lady Broncos in the series. The teams met last season, were the Trojans took charge of their home court advantage with a 60-55 win over the Lady Broncos.

The Trojans are 4-5 on the season and look to go on a conference winning streak under the leadership of VSU's 1st year head coach Nadine Domond. They look to improve from behind the arc as they shoot just 40-of-168 (23.8%) from the three-point line. Defensively, the Trojans are second in the conference in defense points per game (54.8). The Trojans are leading in the CIAA in opponent three-point percentage forcing opponents the field and 22% from beyond the arc against them and are third in opponents field goal percentage (34%). They average 10.6 steals per game while forcing 22 turnovers per contest. 
Sommer Blakemore leads the team with 14.8 points per game; shooting 43.5% from the field after a stellar performance in the Trojans 72-38 victory over SAU on December 15. Kylah Webb leads the Trojans in rebounds, averaging 5.4 boards per game, while Blakemore an Kalyn Ervin are evenly matched averaging 2.6 steals per game.


Scouting the FSU Lady Broncos
FSU is coming off of a win over Shaw University, moving them to the 5-4 season record. The Lady Broncos are averaging 57.8 points per game while allowing 57.6. They shoot 37.5% from the field, 29.7% from three-point range and 61.9% from the foul line. FSU averages 37.8 rebounds per game 11.9 assists per game. They are averaging 18.3 turnovers per game while allowing opponents to score 13 points off turnovers. They have acquired 92 steals on the season along with 37 blocks. Aniylah Bryant leads the Lady Broncos averaging 12.3 points per game, while London Thompson leads FSU in rebounds with 7.9 per contest.
