ETTRICK, VA – Sophomore Willie Drew of the Virginia State football team has been named to the HBCU college football All-American Honorable Mention team presented by BOXTOROW. BOXTOROW has administered The HBCU All-America teams since 2007 as the voters are comprised of media members from around the nation that cover HBCU football. 

 
Willie Drew cancelled all flights this season finishing third in the conference and and tied for fourth in the nation in interceptions with five (most since 2014, Darion Thomas). He also accounted for seven pass breakups which tied for fourth in the conference and for 10th in the nation. Drew tied for first in the conference and eighth in the nation in passes defended with 12 (seven pass breakups, five interceptions). Even though Drew was a cornerback he took pride in laying the boom accounting for 40 tackles (fourth on the team) including 28 solo stops (fourth on the team) this season to go along with his terrific pass coverage statistics. In the win against Shaw, Drew accounted for two interceptions in just the first half.
