ETTRICK, VA – The Virginia State football team fell to Bowie State 14-41 after allowing the Bulldogs to take a 24-point lead in the first quarter. The Bulldogs allowed the Trojans to throw for just 120 yards in the contest. This is the first game all season the Trojans defense did not force a turnover.

FIRST HALF
- The Bulldogs took the lead 0-7 following a 45-yard touchdown pass with 12:07 left in the first quarter.
- After Kymon Pope broke up a pass on third down, the Bulldogs were forced to settle for a field goal to extend their lead to 0-10 with 5:10 left to go in the first quarter.
- Following a three-and-out for the Trojans, Bowie State added to their lead with a one-yard plunge to go up 0-17 with :50 left in the first quarter.
- After Jordan Davis fumbled, BSU took over on the VSU 27 yardline. The Bulldogs only needed one play to find the endzone as a 27-yard touchdown pass pushed the score to 0-24 with :09 left in the first quarter.
- Jordan Davis and Kimo Clarke used their legs to put the Trojans in scoring position. The drive was capped by a 14-yard run into the endzone by Jordan Davis to cut into the lead 7-24 with 8:27 left in the second quarter.
- The Bulldogs answered on the ensuing drive with a four-yard touchdown run to push the lead back out to 24 points at 7-31 with 3:38 left in the second quarter.
- The Bulldogs took a commanding lead 7-31 into halftime.
SECOND HALF
- On their first drive out of the halftime break, the Trojans were able to move the ball all the way to the BSU 26 yardline. When faced with a fourth and one opportunity, the Trojans failed to convert which allowed Bowie State to take over in their own territory.
- On the ensuing drive, the Bulldogs were forced to cap a 17-play drive with a 31-yard field goal to make the score 7-34 with 5:33 left in the third quarter.
- The visiting Bowie State Bulldogs would find the endzone again with a 40-yard catch and run into the endzone to take a 7-41 lead with 2:46 left in the third quarter.
- After Kimo Clarke gave the Trojans one of their only chunk plays of the day with a 20-yard catch, he went on to cap the drive with a four-yard touchdown run to make the score 14-41 with 10:27 left to go in the fourth quarter.
