ETTRICK, VA. – The HBCU D2 Football Coaches Poll Powered by BOXTOROW released its Week Five Rankings on Tuesday as Virginia State moved up a spot to #4 after an instant classic win against Shaw.
The fourth-place ranking comes after the Trojans edged the former Southern Division leaders in Shaw 28-24 thanks to a four-yard touchdown run by Jordan Davis and a game sealing interception by Kymon Pope.
Virginia Union remains atop of the D2 HBCU ranking after stomping out St. Augustine's 69-0 as they scored 20 or more points in three of four quarters. Bowie State stays in the sixth spot after defeating Livingstone 53-7 on their homecoming. Fayetteville State fell from no. 7 to no. 8 after holding off Chowan 13-10.
The Trojans set their sights on a huge divisional matchup against Bowie State for homecoming starting at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8. The game will be broadcasted by PRC Communications on the CW Richmond and the Trojan Sports Network.
