RICHMOND, VA – The Virginia State men's Cross-Country team was able to earn a bronze medal in the 2022 CIAA Men's Cross Country Championship.
The VSU Men's Cross Country team earned 102 points with an average time of 29:51. The first three runners for the Trojans finished 10
th, 15
th and 22th.
Jalen Brownlee finished his race in 28:28.1 with a 5:43.6 mile split. He placed 10
th of 72 runners in the 2022 CIAA Men's Cross Country Championship.
JaPrince Gaines was not far behind placing 15
th. He posted a 29:07.3 with a 5:51.5 mile split.
Elijah Johnson finished her race in 29:59.5, with a 6:02.0 mile split which allowed him to finish in 22
nd place.
Gabriel Miles finished in 24
th place after posting 21:27.1, with a 6:54.6 mile split.
Gabriel Miles finished his race in 30:15.1 with a 6:05.1 mile split which gave her a 24
th place finish.
Jeremiah Monts concluded his race in 31:29.1 with a 6:20.0 mile split which placed her in 31
st.
Dacarai Clark was able to place 37
th after running a 31:48.8 with a 6:24.0 mile split.
Kavante Dawson rounded out the race for the Trojans after running a 38:47.9 with a 7:48.2 mile split which placed him 68
th.
The All-CIAA men's team consisted of the top 15 finishers. They were Toroitch, Kipchumba, and Mengich of Fayetteville State, Micah Kipruto of Virginia Union (fourth), Eric-Thomas Talley of Bowie State (fifth), Alex Kiprono of Shaw (sixth), Robert Edward Jr. of Saint Augustine's (seventh), Matthew Kiptum of Shaw (eighth), Fayetteville State's Kiptanui,
Virginia State's Jalen Brownlee (10th), Virginia union's Derrick Chesire (11th), Lincoln (PA)'s Irvin Marable (12th) and Nathaniel Baker (13th), Lukas Dudziak of Shaw (14th), and
Virginia State's JaPrince Gaines (15th).
