ETTRICK, VA -- The Virginia State University (VSU) Men's Cross Country is ready to hit their peak in the upcoming CIAA Men's Cross-Country Championship is Salem, Virginia at Green Hill Park. The men's 8k Championship is set to commence at 12:00 p.m.

The Trojans are entering the meet after placing first in the VUU Panthers Cross Country Invitational on Friday, October 14. The VSU men's team scored 41 points, with an average time of 29:12.

JaPrince Gaines, Jr. is riding high after breaking the school record in the men's 8k which was previously held byÂ
Tyreece Huff who posted a 25:35.9 back in 2019. Gaines ran a 25:32.9 with a 5:08.3 mile split which placed him first of 30 runners.
