ETTRICK, VA  – Virginia State University Women's Cross Country's Manuelene Deigh and Men's Cross Country's JaPrince Gaines, Jr. was recognized by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association as Food Lion's CIAA Cross Country Runners of the Week.
 

Manuelene Deigh has been on a different level this season posting her fourth-straight first place finish in the 2022 season. She finished in a personal best 19:43.1 with a 6:20.7 mile split which placed her first of 27 competitors.
 

Freshman sensation JaPrince Gaines broke the school record in the men's 8k with a time of 25:32.9 in Panther Invitational this past weekend. Gaines ran an astounding 25:32.9 with a 5:08.3 mile split which placed him first of 30 runners.


The Panther Invitational was the final tune-up meet before the CIAA Cross Country Championship in Salem, VA. The Conference Championship meet is set for Thursday, October 27.
