ETTRICK, VA – Virginia State football's Quarterback,
Jordan Davis, was recognized by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association as the Food Lion's Week #7 Football Quarterback of the Week.
Jordan Davis passed for a career-high 301 yards and two touchdowns while completing a career-high 24-of-37 passes in the 43-40 loss to Chowan. The Junior signal caller nearly completed a Virginia State rally, passing for two fourth-quarter touchdowns. His first touchdown cut the deficit to 35-33 with 3:36 left in the game while his second score gave the Trojans their first lead of the game with the score at 40-35 and 52 seconds remaining. On that go-ahead touchdown drive, Davis accounted for all the yardage, going three-of-five passing for 42 yards and he converted a fourth-and-four with a six-yard rush. His 64.9 completion percentage was a season-high (minimum five attempts). The Woodbridge, VA native also occasionally took over the punting duties as he punted three times for 74 yards, including one punt that was caught inside the 15-yard line.
Virginia State will be right back on the road to Elizabeth City State for an afternoon matchup against the Vikings. The Trojans will attempt to avoid a three-game losing streak as they roll into Elizabeth City, NC Saturday, October 22 for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
