How It Happened

- After the VSU defense was able to get off the field on third down, the offense committed their first turnover of the game as redshirt–sophomore Mark Wright tried to evade pressure but ended up putting the ball on the ground. FSU's Quran Blount picked up the fumble and ran it 22 yards into the end zone. The Broncos came out in a swinging gate formation on the two-point attempt, which confused the VSU special team squad. This allowed the kicker Jacob Young to find the holder open on the left sideline to put the Broncos in front 8-7 with 13:22 left to go in the half.
- Following a failed fourth down attempt by the Trojans, the FSU offense marched 64-yards in six plays before capping off the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run made by Donshell Jetton to push the FSU lead out to 15-7 with 7:46 left in the second quarter.

The Broncos came out in a wildcat formation before Darnell Walker fumbled the shotgun snap that resulted in junior Tyrone Fisher recovering the fumble and rolling 77-yards to the end zone to bring the score to 15-14 with 9:53 left in the third quarter.
- The next drive the VSU offense attempted to go for it on a fourth and two attempt in their own territory before jumping off sides. This caused the offensive coaching staff to change their minds and punt it with 5:20 left to go in the third quarter.
- The Broncos drive started on their own 43-yardline and saw their running backs shine collecting 25-yards on the drive to put FSU in field goal range. Andrew Elton split the uprights from 42-yards out to bring the score to 18-14 with just 1:40 left in the third quarter.

- 12 plays later, the Bronco offense methodically advanced the ball down the 5-yardline of VSU. Andrew Elton was able to put the ball through the goal posts from 22-yards away to push the Bronco lead out to 28-14 with just 1:44 left in the game.
