ETTRICK, VA (September 17, 2021) – The Virginia State University Trojans will be on the road this weekend for their second road trip of the season to face the Adelphi University Panthers and Wilmington University Wildcats at Wilmington. VSU looks to bounce back from a disappointing loss on Wednesday at CNU.

The Trojans will have two games Saturday, September 18 with the first game being against Adelphi University at 2:30pm and the second game being against Wilmington University at 6:00pm.

Last Time Out
VSU fell short in the first two matches which in turn led charge to an unfortunate third set lost Wednesday against the Christopher Newport University. The Trojans kept it close in the first two sets by only losing by two and four, however in the third set the margin of loss was larger with the Trojans losing 25-12. There were some positives out the game though with Freshman
Helena Eubanks leading the team in kills with five and contributed four digs which was tied for second on the team.
Series History
This will be VSU's first time in program history facing off against both Adelphi University and Wilmington University.
Scouting the Opponents
Adelphi University is a D-II institution apart of the Northeast-10 Conference. The Panthers are coming into this game at 7-2 winning their last two games. On the Offensive side, Adelphi is led by Samantha Meehan and Delaney Kiendra who combine for 133 kills between the two. Defensively, they're led by Jamie Yonker who leads the team in digs with 168 with an average of 5.25 digs per set.
Wilmington University is also a D-II institution apart of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). The Wildcats 4-4 to start the 2021 season off coming into the day on a three-game win streak. They're led offensively by Mandy Behiels and Heather Pedrick who combine for 160 kills between the two. On the defensive side, Grace Morton leads the team in digs with 88 with 4.19 digs per set.

Thursday, September 23 the Trojans will continue their long road trip to Bowie, Maryland to square off against Bowie State University. The matchup will take place at 6:00pm.
